HOW WE MET:
Our mutual friend Katy introduced us when she and I came down to Austin one weekend to celebrate our friend Ed’s birthday. She invited Chiu to come to dinner that evening, and it was pretty much love at first sight. The ironic thing is that we attended the same university for four years and never once met. In one of ABSA’s (an organization Katy and I were part of in college) newsletters, we are pictured in two photographs on the very same page. How bizarre is that?! A few months before we met, Chiu came up to Dallas to visit Katy, and we could have met then, but I ended up going to California to visit my cousins instead! So there's something to be said about waiting for the right time to meet and if it’s meant to be, you will meet that special someone!
HOBBIES:
There’s not much time for card-making or World of Warcraft these days, but the girls and Tigger are a constant source of entertainment for us. Chiu still maintains a salt water tank and two fresh water tanks, so he has narrowed down his aquariums by one. Ivania has been busy reading any type of literature on raising kids, twins, whatever you name it. Shopping for quality cheap clothes for the girls has been something of a hobby too.
WORK:
Chiu works as a Senior software engineer for Wayport. The company designs, develops and enables software and applications over carrier grade Wi-Fi networks for innovative organizations throughout the world. In addition to thousands of directly enabled strategic locations at McDonald’s, Hertz, hotels and airports, Wayport has deployed more than 4,000 hot spots through managed service agreements. Okay, so in layman’s terms, the company helps set up the internet for their clients.
Ivania is now staying home with Addison and Jasmine. Her role as mother includes activities director, chef, chauffeur, emergency responder, events coordinator, housekeeper, journalist, judge, laundry machine operator, life coach, music instructor, nurse, personal shopper, photographer, psychologist, record keeper, rodeo clown, set designer, and teacher. Supposedly, a stay at home mother earns a six digit figure for all that work!
